The collection of account books includes balance books, stock records, petty cash books, monthly financial statements, and salary records. The two Bankers Boxes contain accounting records from both the Atwater Library and the Computer Centre for the years specified, in the form of computer printouts.
The Financial Statements are arranged chronologically from 1921 to 1986; after 1986 they are separated into financial statements for the library and for the computer centre, in folders designated "Library" and "Computer" respectively.

Zonder titelThe collection of legal documents includes the original statue for the Mechanics' Institute, deeds of sale for the Institutes' properties, by-laws, contracts, lease and loan agreements, mortgage papers, and other documents of a legal nature. Documents related to the Linton Reid case (1994-1996) are located in this sub-series.
Scrapbooks of the Mechanics' Institute of Montreal are in the form of bound scrapbooks filled with newspaper clippings related to events held at the Institute and publicity for its activities. A separate binder contains all records related to the Norman Rockwell Exhibition held at the Atwater Library and Computer Centre in 2000.
The earliest catalogues for the Mechanics' Institute were published in book format; later lists of books are in document format. A catalogue from the Hemmingford Institute, whose library was related to the Montreal Institute’s, is located here as well.
Registers for the library include visitors books, a donation book, daily logs of the library, and lists of members. These lists of members exist both as created lists and in the form of receipt books from the purchase of Annual Memberships and Membership Renewals.
