This file contains records of a variety of services used by the Atwater Library as well as programs initiated for its users, including the Computer Centre and the Books-by-Mail program. It also includes a survey of library users conducted in 1988.
The collection of legal documents includes the original statue for the Mechanics' Institute, deeds of sale for the Institutes' properties, by-laws, contracts, lease and loan agreements, mortgage papers, and other documents of a legal nature. Documents related to the Linton Reid case (1994-1996) are located in this sub-series.
In conjunction with its mission as a Mechanics' Institute, lectures on a variety of special interest topics have been held throughout the history of the organization. These files contain promotional materials and records of regular events, as well as records of other special events such as art exhibits and concerts on the premises.
The History file contains several histories published by the Institute itself, as well as histories and research papers by other individuals not directly related to the organization. This file also contains historic membership cards and certificates, and stationary published by the Institute for its own use.

The Financial Statements are arranged chronologically from 1921 to 1986; after 1986 they are separated into financial statements for the library and for the computer centre, in folders designated "Library" and "Computer" respectively.
